At Voxbone we spend A LOT of time together and I don’t just mean in meetings or in the office, 9-5. We go bowling, play 5-aside football, run 20ks and win big at bingo. This is because our environment thrives when we spend time together, work well together and build relationships with each other. And, our charity initiatives are by far one of my favourite ways to encourage and support our employee’s values. With offices in Brussels, London, Dublin and scattered across the USA there is always an opportunity to work with and support our local communities.
While we’re looking forward to everything we have planned for 2019, we thought it was important to recap our 2018 activities and achievements.
La Maison d’Enfants Reine Marie-Henriette ASBL – No 7-year itch here!
La Maison d’Enfants Reine Marie-Henriette ASBL, also known as “La Flèche”, is a fantastic cause as it welcomes and helps children from 0 to 14 years old, from families in great difficulty. We have worked with La Flèche for nearly seven years and it is a relationship we all value very much and one we intensely proud of. While some events are an annual occurrence we are always looking for ways to further and build our relationship.
This year alone over 30 of our Voxbone volunteers from our Brussels office gave their time to refreshing the meeting rooms and hallways, ran the Brussels 20K, donated proceeds of our office furniture auction, and donated over 40 Christmas gifts as part of our Toy Appeal.
Mudchute Volunteer day – That’ll do pig, that’ll do!
On a cold yet sunny day in November, our London volunteers rolled up their sleeves and pulled up their wellies, literally, and volunteered at Mudchute Farm – a 32-acre farm located in the middle of the Isle of Dogs. The team built an impressive chicken coup with the help of the wonderful Mudchute team. At Mudchute caring for the environment is at the heart of all they do, with a long list of admirable objectives including preserving the natural environment of Mudchute, promoting animal welfare through engagement with the Farm and conservation both of the natural and built environment. It was a resounding success and was also a great induction into Voxbone life for our new starters. Looking towards 2019 this is something the team would love to do again, but only bigger and better. A huge shout to Harry the enormous pig who kept us company!
Our first Christmas Toy Appeal with Family Action!
At Voxbone we love Christmas, we love our annual winter events and catching up with our overseas colleagues, and of course, going offline to spend time with our friends and families. This year the London team hosted their first ever Toy appeal with Family Action – a charity dedicated to transforming lives by providing practical, emotional and financial support to those who are experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation across the United Kingdom. This was the first time the London office did a toy appeal and it won’t be the last. Keeping this appeal lighthearted and fun for all we distributed the children’s gifts profiles on candy canes from our Christmas tree, we also wrapped the gifts while listening to Christmas songs and drinking mulled wine.
