A Modular Approach to Global Voice Transport

To make sure your Voxbone journey is supported by the most appropriate connectivity options for your requirements in each and every one of your locations, Voxbone Connect is available in any combination of the following modules.

Think of these as the bricks out of which you can build your ideal connectivity solution.

Option 1: Connect via Route-Based VPN  

  • Voxbone’s entire network estate can be reached via one VPN including the 81.201.89.110 outbound destination.
  • Because VPNs rely on internet delivery, you should consider establishing a secondary route to ensure resilient connectivity and guaranteed service availability.
  • Voxbone will advertise the public IP range via either Static Routes, or BGP AS Number 41135. For dynamic rerouting, BGP is required.
  • Static Route changes must be requested and will usually require be delivered with 2 business days’ notice.
  • Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) can be enabled to support sub-second failure detection.
  • VPNs are terminated to the nominated SuperPop of your choice.
  • Customers performing IP Whitelisting should route using RFC1918 IP addresses to ensure whitelisting is only allowed against private IP addresses.

Option 2: Connect Via Policy-Based VPN

  • Voxbone’s entire network estate can be reached via one VPN including the 81.201.89.110 outbound destination.
  • Because VPNs rely on internet delivery, you should consider establishing a secondary route to ensure resilient connectivity and guaranteed service availability.
  • Voxbone will configure policy routing based on the IP ranges provided. Dynamic rerouting is not possible using this method.
  • Policy changes must be requested and will usually require be delivered with 2 business days’ notice.
  • VPNs are terminated to the nominated SuperPoP of your choice.
  • Customers performing IP Whitelisting should route using RFC1918 IP addresses to ensure whitelisting is only allowed against private IP addresses

Option 3. Connect Via SD-Wan with Megaport

  • Voxbone’s entire network estate can be reached via one VPN including the 81.201.89.110 outbound destination.
  • Voxbone has dual Megaport connections into each of its SuperPoPs
  • Megaport connections are enabled for BGP routing and dynamic rerouting
  • Megaport connections are terminated to the nominated SuperPoP of your choice.
  • Customers performing IP Whitelisting should route using RFC1918 IP addresses to ensure whitelisting is only allowed against private IP addresses.
  • Megaport – NAT IP consideration
    Megaport connections are VLAN’d per customer to ensure appropriate security / isolation of each customers’ traffic

Option 4. Connect via Direct Cross-Connect

  • Voxbone’s entire network estate can be reached via one direct connection including the 81.201.89.110 outbound destination.
  • For resilience, more than one connection is required
  • Direct connections can support static routes or BGP
  • Changes to the link must be requested and will usually require be delivered with 2 business days’ notice.
  • VPNs are terminated to the nominated SuperPoP of your choice, or if required to any of our Collect PoPs. Connecting via a CollectPoP will incur additional fees to cover the cost of the required backbone transit bandwidth.
  • Customers performing IP Whitelisting should route using RFC1918 IP addresses to ensure whitelisting is only allowed against private IP addresses.
  • Available Collect PoPs: Amsterdam Interxion AM1-4, New York – Equinix NY2, Paris – Telehouse 2, Paris – InterXion 2, Rotterdam – BytesNet, Singapore – Equinix SG1

Centralised Service - Megaport + Internet

  • Designed for Hub and Spoke delivery into your datacenters, wherever they are located
  • Leverages Voxbone’s global network capabilities to support your own global requirements
  • Guaranteed voice quality on primary line with failover-to-internet to provide cost-effective resilience
  • Call quality cannot be guaranteed on backup link as it’s delivered over the internet
  • Consider adding TLS/SRTP encryption to the internet configuration to bring it in line with primary link in terms of security

Mitigating Poor Voice Quality - Adding Megaport to existing Internet connection

  • Our network monitoring capabilities let us see the impact that an internet link has on call quality
  • We can recommend to customers suffering poor voice quality when to consider additional connectivity options
  • Megaport connections provide cost-effective connectivity as they can be purchased in 100Mb bundles (enough bandwidth for 1000 concurrent calls)
  • Given the extensive Points of Presence on the Megaport network, these connections can be used to quickly enhance connectivity and overcome quality issues
